Sleep

Sleep you dummy!  Seriously.  Mark goes into a lot here about sleep and how it affects you and your recovery and performance.  Read it.

I love sleep.  I love sleep more than anything.  Sleep is amazing.  Everyone is a little different, but I can say with confidence that 7-8 solid hours a night is best for everyone.  It’s funny that the people that claim that they can live with only 5-6 hours a night, are usually caffeine addicts, have high blood pressure, cortisol levels off the charts and are generally stress cases.

If I only get 7 hours of sleep, I really feel it the next day.  I’m slower, don’t feel as mobile, recovery sucks, I’m sore longer, and I just feel a sandwich short of a picnic.  What’s your sleep ritual?  What do you do to wind down to go to sleep?  I’ve been drinking my Magnesium Powder (I like the orange flavor) and I’ll crack open a fiction book and read by a dim light, right now it’s the Harry Potter series.  Ya, you read that right, get over it.  I’ve never read them and I’m trying to catch up.  Eventually, I’d like to get a candle and get rid of unnatural light all together and read by candle light.  Anyway, sleep.  Because it’s awesome.

    7:57 this morning! Tough workout on the upper arms! I may be slightly sore later! And really, Chris, you think I needed heavier dumb bells?
